Proud to Call You Uncle

Deserving of the label of criminal

Put behind bars before I was born

You were still a man, still my uncle

Some say that people do not change

But you are proof that they are wrong

And the repentance which change takes

Knelt in prayer on concrete floors

Shadows of bars on words of freedom

You were an example to me of faith in hardship

My entire life you were labeled a criminal

I should have written this before it was too late

I have always been proud to call you uncle.
