We just want it to be fair
We just want our share.
The wages of sin are death
Do we really want our pay?
Thorns pressed into our scalp
For every act of pride.
Blood and sweat stinging our eyes
For every lustful look.
Our Face beaten in darkness
For looking the other way.
Our backs lashed by a whip
For every angry word.
A nail piercing our hands
For every selfish act.
A nail through our feet
For not running the race.
A spear thrust into our side
For the forgiveness we withhold.
For all we have done
For all we have not done
We have earned the death
Which He took on.
The Word of the Cross,
United in His death
We share His resurrection.
Can we really ask for more?
